INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE LETTERS

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

A. Publication policy

International Journal of Science Letters (IJSL) is published two issues per year: February and August. The journal publishes original research articles in all science fields.

The language of the journal is English. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original and not be published anywhere (except research results presented and printed as abstract in the conference books) or not being considered for publication elsewhere.

Authors are responsible for the scientific content of the published manuscript. If an Ethics Committee Report is required to conduct a research on animals and humans, it is mandatory that the Ethics Committee Report has to be scanned and uploaded as a pdf file. Otherwise, the article is returned to the author at the preliminary examination and other stages.

Authors’ ORCID information should be written.

Submissions are expected to include a copy of the Research Ethics Board’s decision if necessary. Revisions in the manuscript or the order of authors are not allowed once a revised manuscript is accepted for publication.

Each submitted manuscript is pre-reviewed by the journal’s editor(s) for its suitability for the International Journal of Science Letters. The manuscript may be rejected before the peer review stage if it does not fit the scope of the journal. Also, the manuscript is sent back to the author in case it is not well-written. Checking of the manuscript by a native English speaker is recommended if it is written in English. If the manuscript is found to be suitable for peer review after the first evaluation made by the editorial office, it is sent to at least two reviewers.

Authors can not withdraw the articles during the evaluation process. If necessary, during preview (approximately 5 days after submission), authors can withdraw the articles.

Manuscripts needing revision are electronically forwarded to the author(s). The author(s) should consider the reviewer's comments very carefully and explain each comment or criticisms one by one; they should also prepare a detailed explanation in case the author(s) do(es)n’t agree with the reviewer’s critics. The article is considered as a new submission, if it is not revised and returned to the editor within 30 days. The editor makes a final decision after consulted revisions and corrections made by author(s).

A title page should be prepared for the manuscripts, but is required to be uploaded separately to journal’s online manuscript submission system on as a supplementary file. All information on this page should be written both in English. Title page should include the following: The title of the manuscript written in lower case, list of author(s) in the order and without academic titles, the names and addresses of the institutional affiliation (s) where all or most of the research has been done during the period. Also, the name, telephone and fax numbers and email address of the corresponding author must be given.

Preparing the manuscript

Main text, uploaded on manuscript evaluation system for referee evaluation, should start with the title of the manuscript, but must not include the names of author(s) and their address(es).

All manuscripts should be typewritten on A4 page with 2.5 cm margins on all sides and double spaced, using Microsoft Word 2007 (or upper versions) in Times New Roman style with 12 pt. All pages and also lines in each page of the manuscript should be numbered.

The manuscript should be organized as following: Manuscript Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and/or Discussion, Conclusion (optional), Acknowledgement (if necessary), Abbreviations and/or symbols (if necessary), References, Figures (pictures, drawings, graphs, maps etc.) and Tables. Figures and Tables should be given after references. Section names of the manuscript should be written with bold letters.

To write an equation in Word program, math processor should be used, and the main characters in 12 pt, variables in italics and math characters in regular styles should appear in the article.

Equations should be numbered consecutively in the text [(.... related model is given in (1)], if they cited in the text.

Ethical standards for publication exist to ensure high-quality scientific publications, public trust in scientific findings, and that people receive credit for their ideas. In addition, the authors are encouraged to follow the ethic guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) which can be viewed on the COPE website.

International Journal of Science Letters (IJSL) is an electronic peer-reviewed international journal trying to have the highest standards of publication ethics. For that, we affirm the following principles of the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

If malpractice is discovered at any time even after the publication, the articles not in accordance with these standards will be removed from the publication. IJSL is checking all papers in a double-blind peer-review process. We also check for plagiarisms, research fabrication, falsification, and improper use of any organisms in research. We will also report any cases of suspected plagiarism or duplicate publishing. IJSL reserves the right to use plagiarism detecting software to screen submitted papers at all times.

Author’s responsibilities

Literature of the other researchers, all contributors and sources (including online sites) should be appropriately credited and referenced. All submitted manuscripts should be edited for language. All references should be cited without been copied or plagiarized. If needed, any financial sources or another conflict of interest should be disclosed. In order to correct the paper, any significant error or inaccuracy in the published works should be notified by the related authors. An author agrees to the license agreement before submitting the article. All articles must be submitted using the online submission procedure. Submitting a paper simultaneously to more than one publication at a time is a violation of publications' ethics.

Editorial responsibilities

Editors along with Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board have publication decisions. Editors must guarantee a fair double-blind peer-review of the submitted articles for publication. They have to prevent any potential conflict of interests between the author and editors and reviewers. They have to guarantee the confidentiality of submitted articles before publishing. Editor-in-Chief will coordinate the work of the editors.

Peer review/responsibility for the reviewers

They have to review the manuscripts based on content without regard to ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship, religious belief, or political philosophy of the authors. They have to guarantee the confidentiality of submitted articles before publishing. They have to report any plagiarisms, research fabrication, falsification, and improper use of any organisms in research to the editors and/or the Editor-in-Chief. They have to review the papers objectively and state their opinions clearly in the forms and on the paper. A reviewer having inadequate time or feeling unqualified should notify the editors as soon as possible and excuse her/himself from the review process.

Plagiarism

All journals published by IJSL are committed to publishing only original material, i.e., material that has neither been published elsewhere nor is under review elsewhere. Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarized from a manuscript by other authors, whether published or unpublished, will incur plagiarism sanctions. Manuscripts are checked by Ithenticate Plagiarism System.

Duplicate Submission

Manuscripts that are found to have been published elsewhere, or to be under review elsewhere, will incur duplicate submission/publication sanctions. If authors have used their own previously published work or work that is currently under review, as the basis for a submitted manuscript, they are required to cite the previous work and indicate how their submitted manuscript offers novel contributions beyond those of the previous work.

Citation Manipulation

Submitted manuscripts that are found to include citations whose primary purpose is to increase the number of citations to a given author’s work or articles published in a particular journal, will incur citation manipulation sanctions.

Data Fabrication and Falsification

Submitted manuscripts that are found to have either fabricated or falsified experimental results, including the manipulation of images, will incur data fabrication and falsification sanctions.

Improper Author Contribution or Attribution

All listed authors must have made a significant scientific contribution to the research in the manuscript and approved all its claims. It is important to list everyone who made a significant scientific contribution, including students and laboratory technicians.

Redundant Publications

Redundant publications involve the inappropriate division of study outcomes into several articles.

Sanctions

In the event that there are documented violations of any of the above-mentioned policies in any journal, regardless of whether or not the violations occurred in a journal published by IJSL, the following sanctions will be applied:

Immediate rejection of the infringing manuscript.

Immediate rejection of every other manuscript submitted to any journal published by IJSL by any of the authors of the infringing manuscript.

The prohibition against all of the authors for any new submissions to any journal published by IJSL, either individually or in combination with other authors of the infringing manuscript, as well as in combination with any other authors. This prohibition will be imposed for a minimum of 36 months.

Prohibition against all of the authors from serving on the Editorial Board of any journal published by IJSL.

In cases where the violations of the above policies are found to be particularly egregious, the publisher reserves the right to impose additional sanctions beyond those described above.
